Homemade Dark Fantasy Choco Fills

  • Details

Yesterday D offered me a piece of Sunfeast Dark Fantasy Chocofills and asked, “Isn’t it good?”, to which I replied in the affirmative. However, I wasn’t quite prepared for the question that followed. “Mama, can’t you make this???” That set me thinking….. Well, yeah I gotta try making this. Even though I have never done any experimentation in baking till date, I thought it was time to stretch my limit. After all it was a challenge… 🙂

After some brain racking, I formulated a recipe and set about. Though theappearanceof the baked cookies seemed good, I kept my fingers crossed till D took his first bite. His BIG smile said it all. 🙂

Hi Mareena, would the recipe work fine if I replaced brown sugar with powdered white sugar ?

  4. Mareena Jerrish says:

Yes Sariga.. Its ok to use White sugar instead of brown sugar.I would recommend granules than powdered sugar… The taste will be slightly different though…

recipe seems quite simple.. I would love to try it 🙂 even your cookies look just perfect. 1 question though – do u add brown sugar granules or powder? Thanks 🙂

  8. Mareena Jerrish says:

Anna, Adding brown sugar as granules is absolutely fine. I prefer powdering the sugar as its easier to cream. Hope this helps 🙂

  11. yasmeen says:

Hey – the filling may become hard on storage na- can we use Choco paste Instead for that semi liquid feel- Please suggest recepie if any. Thanks

  12. Mareena Jerrish says:

You could using chocolate ganache or sauce. The trick will be to close the outer covering after pouring the filling… 🙂

  13. yasmeen says:

Can you please share the recipe for the same…Thanks in advance

  14. anonymous says:

hi,mareena,i would love to try this i hv one question?wil the mixture be creamy or solid?wil i b able to handle it,wen i will put the chocolate in the middle.

  15. Mareena Jerrish says:

The mixture will be a soft dough. Take some of it and roll into a ball. Make a hole in the centre and put in the chocolate. One thing that has been brougt into my notice by some of the readers is that teh chocolate hardens on storage. I never faced that issue as they werent any leftovers 🙂 So the better option wud be to pour in a little chocolate ganache or sauce and cover it. Its going to be a tricky affair though.but once you get the hold of it, it should be fine.. Hope it helps …

  16. Mareena Jerrish says:

Sorry for the delay in replying yasmeen..I hadnt seen this message. You can find the chocolate sauce recipe here..

  17. yasmeen says:

    Thanks a lot Mareena…

  18. Mareena Jerrish says:

you are welcome. one suggestion..use the sauce when it is really thick..

  19. ishani says:

for how much time we need to preheat the oven? can this be done in convection mode in micro?

  20. Mareena Jerrish says:

All kinds of baking can be done in convection mode in Microwave Ishani. I am sure it has settings for preheating as well. Best wishes

  21. ishani says:

will white sugar powder do?i hope it doesnt bring any change in it.?

  22. Mareena Jerrish says:

    Hi Ishani,

You can always use white sugar. the taste will be slightly different though. But Nothing serious..Go ahead 🙂

  23. dimplechandawat says:

I hve tried darkfantasy choco fills but i am not getting how to place in convection exactly…..i hve greased the plate with ghee and a place them for 10to12min but it is being burnt slightly.190c…plz suggest i want to prepare for diwali…..plz help

  24. Mareena Jerrish says:

    Hi Dimple,

After reading the issue you are facing, I would suggest to try baking the cookies at 180C or bake for lesser time at 190C. Ideally after you grease the plate sprinkle flour generously on top of the ghee and tap away the excess flour. Using a butter paper/ parchment paper would be the best option. Too much of ghee could also have been a cause. I hope this helps.

  28. Kanyyyyy says:

also can you give me some advices? i really want to make this well done. 🙂 thanks so much.

  29. Mareena Jerrish says:

Baking is something in which I don’t usually take chances. My recommendation would be to do in batches to be on the safer side. Also I would recommend using thick chocolate sauce instead of the chocolate chunks, as they tend to harden when cooled. The tricky part would be inserting the filling, if using chocolate sauce. Considering that this is a competition, you may have time constraints. In that case the best idea is to stick to the chocolate chunks in the centre to save time. I hope you find these tips helpful. Feel free to ping me if any need arises. Shall try and help you.

  30. Mareena Jerrish says:

Good luck with your competition !!!

  31. Kanyyyyy says:

hi cheechii…i jus baked these ccokiess…but they r so soft…nt more than a perfect cake…wat wld have gone wrong..the held d shape..but too soft 🙁 i dd it at 190c and 15 mins…wil keeping it a few more mins do the job ??

  41. Mareena Jerrish says:

    Hi Saranya,

The temp settings in ovens vary from one another. Next time try baking the cookies for a longer duration. usually the cookies will be soft as soon as they are taken out of the oven. But it hardens once they are cool.

  42. anonymous says:

Tried ur others recipe came out really well

  43. Jayashree says:

Looks yummmy..want to give it a try..pls let me know if I will be able to press the dough to a proper cookie shape like urs after putting the hard chocolate chunk in the center.

    Hey Jayashree,

The dough will be a bit soft. but yes you can form the dough into a cookie shape after putting the chocolate piece
